Quad-band vs. Tri-Band Cell Phone?
i got a cell phone about a year ago, brand new and the SIM card that came with it was brand new.
My phone is a quad-band phone, so does that mean my SIM card is only compatible to quad-band phones?
Can i get a phone that is tri-band and put my SIM card in it?
Basically the SIM and the number of bands have very little to do with each other. There are four major operating bands (850/900/1800/1900). There is a fifth band of 2100 but it is only used in a few markets overseas. 850/1900 are basically used in the US and 1900 is also used in Canada. The 900/1800 are used in Europe/Asia. So to try and answer your question as long as the device you are wanting to use (whether it be tri or quad band) was made for use in the US you should have no problem putting your SIM in either one and getting it to work. The biggest problem are dual band devices. With yours being quad band you should have no problem, even travelling in other areas of the world (except where 2100 is used and I think China does and not real sure where else)
