Repair a water damaged phone with replacement parts?
I have an LG rumor that I accidently left at a bar and somehow it got dropped into the back tank part of the toilet when someone went in there to try and fix the toilet....I have no idea how it happened it doesn't matter anyway. Well now the phone doesn't work, it lights up when I try to turn it on, but won't actually come on. There are a few phones on ebay that are sold just for parts. If I buy one of those and take it to the sprint store or somewhere will they be able to replace the damaged parts and get the phone working again? Is there anything I can do? It's been over a week since it got wet so it's had plenty of time to dry out, so it's obviously not going to work. And I can't afford a new phone.
If you are tech savvy/handy enough then go ahead and find a youtube video for how to take the phone apart. Take it apart and dry everything out. If the phone still doesn't turn on and you don't see the immediate cause of the problem then you should take one of the independent sprint repair shops. Sprint Stores won't touch a water damaged phone but some of the independent sprint authorized retailers should be able to help you and actually quote you a price on how much it will be to fix.
