Car Insurance Question - uninsured motorist?
I got into an accident the other day in which a car came up behind me and passed me, yet did not calculate well enough and clipped the back end of the car. I pulled over, and he continued to drive. I called the police to report the accident. One tailight needs to be replaced and some body work needs to be done as the trunk does not close properly now.
I have full coverage car insurance. Will the car insurance company consider this a case of uninsured motorist, as the person hit and ran? and would this make my premium go up???
Also, this is in the state of florida.
No, it is not uninsured motorist, it is a hit and run. You claim on the collision portion of your policy. It shouldn't affect your premium, as it is a not-at-fault accident. Did you get the plate number? If the police catch the offender, your insurance company can and will sue him for the damages.
